Abstract
This article examines the improvement of the properties of soil-concrete materials through the effective use of oil sludge and other industrial wastes in the construction of highways. Currently, industrial wastes, including ash and slag wastes, chrysotile cement production wastes, asbestos-cement production wastes, ash and slag wastes from thermal power plants and boiler houses, overburden rocks, and other types of waste, are widely used in road construction. The use of these wastes in road construction makes it possible to significantly improve the environmental condition by recycling them, as well as to ensure the rational use of natural resources. The study established that the use of oil sludge in soil-concrete significantly changes such physical and mechanical characteristics of the soil as viscosity, density, moisture content, and swelling capacity. The addition of 20% cement to a loam-based soil-concrete mixture containing oil sludge improves the forming and strength properties of the mixture and increases its crack resistance. In addition, such a composition enhances the stability of the road pavement and expands the possibilities for the reuse of industrial waste. This method makes it possible to increase the efficiency of road construction and contributes to waste recycling.
