Affirming Political Joy. An Interview with Rosi Braidotti

Oct 2026 · Rivista Italiana di Filosofia Politica · 0 citations

Abstract

A key figure in contemporary thought, Rosi Braidotti is one of the leading voices in European feminist theory and posthumanism. Her work, developed across European philosophical traditions, feminist scholarship, and reflections on technological change, has produced influential concepts such as nomadic subjectivity and critical posthumanism, rethinking identity, embodiment, and politics within a materialist and relational framework. The interview revisits central themes of her work: the nomadic subject as multiple belonging in tension with resurgent identity closures; the need for a situated European engagement with postcolonial perspectives; and critical posthumanism as a way to address technological and capitalist transformations beyond both nostalgic rejection and uncritical enthusiasm. Feminism emerges as a key site for rethinking sex, gender, and reproduction beyond current polarizations. At its core lies the proposal of an affirmative politics grounded in relationality, affects, and generative practices, aimed at transforming critique into the creation of alternatives in a time of overlapping crises.
