Abstract

The article explores mentorship as a psychological and social resource in the context of two parallel crisis processes: young people’s normative developmental crisis, which involves the reappraisal of values and the formation of identity, and the resocialization crisis experienced by combatants and war veterans. Particular attention is paid to the psychological vulnerability of contemporary youth in a situation of social turbulence and value dissonance. The author argues for reconsidering the role of past experience, both individual and collective, as a means of sustaining personal integrity. Drawing on recent research, the article demonstrates that nostalgia should not be understood merely as a form of escapism, but rather as an adaptive mechanism associated with resilience, meaning in life, and constructive coping strategies. The paper proposes a model of intergenerational transmission of experience in which mentorship serves as a key institutional mechanism, while the value potential of youth is integrated with the life experience of combat veterans. Special attention is given to historical parallels with the post-war period as a source of practical solutions for the present.
