A Ditadura Ambiental no Capitalismo Dependente Brasileiro Atual e a Educação
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the Environmental Issue in the contemporary Brazilian context based on the Marxist Theory of Dependency. To this end, a bibliographic review was conducted using the databases Google Scholar and Scientific Electronic Library Online, with the following keywords: Environmental Issue; Brazilian dependent capitalism; and Marxist Theory of Dependency. It is based on the assumption that, since the colonial period, Brazil has been inserted in a subordinate position within the International Division of Labor, with its environmental wealth historically appropriated and degraded by the bourgeoisie, especially at the international level. In the period of structural crisis of capital, there has been a deepening dismantling of the environmental agenda in Brazil, as well as a weakening of social movements, which is encouraged by international markets. This reality contributes to the superexploitation of the very means of life, constructing a political order that we name “environmental dictatorship,” which is increasingly difficult to confront.
