Abstract
The article considers the impact of linear affiliation on the milk productivity in first-calf heifers of the Red-and-White breed. The purpose of the research is to determine the future development of the genealogical structure of the Red-and-White cattle breed, focusing on identifying the most promising lines. We analyzed this issue in the herd of the Red-and-White breed of JSC Dolzhanskoe (Belgorod region). Using zootechnical records, the main lines used at this enterprise were identified and their genotypic and phenotypic characteristics were evaluated to identify the most favorable animal genotype. Four groups of animals were formed, taking into account age (first lactation), body weight, breed and lineage. The first group included the first-calf heifers of the Montwick Chieftain 95679 line, the second – Reflection Sovering 198998, the third – Vis Back Ideal 1013415, the fourth – Seiling Trijun Rocket 252803. The analysis revealed the most promising line – Reflection Sovering 198998. During 305 days of lactation the animals from this line produced 309.5 kg of milk fat, which is 9.4%, 5.0%, and 4.5% more than those from the Montvik Chieftein 95679, the Vis Back Ideal 1013415, and the Seiling Trijun Roket 252803 lines, respectively. The nature of the lactation activity of cows was also determined. This indicator is important in assessing milk productivity, which was identified based on the parameter of the lactation efficiency. This indicator for animals of the second group was 80.15 %, which indicates the stability of lactation activity. The use of this line will enable the enterprise to substantially increase milk yield, and extend the productive lifespan of high-yielding livestock.
