Abstract

Background of the study Self-esteem is crucial in forming personality, confidence, and psychological well-being during adolescence, a crucial developmental stage. Adolescents' relationships, mental health, and academic achievement can all suffer from low self-esteem. To improve self-esteem and foster a good self-concept, structured mental health programs must be put into place. Materials and Methods The study used a pre-experimental one-group pre test-post test research design. A non-probability purposive sampling method was used to choose a total of 75 students. The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, which is standardized, was used to assess adolescents self-esteem. A week-long structured mental health program was given to the participants following the pre test evaluation. The same instrument was used in a post test after the intervention to assess how self-esteem had changed. Results The results showed that the post test mean score of self-esteem increased to 22.07 with a standard deviation of 5.09, while the pre test mean score was 15.8 with a standard deviation of 4.77. Adolescents' self-esteem significantly improved following the intervention, as indicated by the estimated t-value (23.87), which demonstrated a statistically significant difference at the p < 0.001 level. Conclusion The study found that the mental health program significantly improved adolescents' self-esteem. Such interventions can boost self-confidence, foster a positive self-concept, and help adolescents' psychosocial development, as seen by the considerable difference between pre test and post test scores.
