Abstract

The effectiveness of autologous bone grafting with monocortical blocks was analyzed in 50 patients with alveolar bone width deficiency, divided into two groups. The first group (n=26) used the standard technique of autograft fixa-tion, while the second group (n=24) used a modified technique with penetrating osteoperforation of the graft and recipient bed. After 6 months, according to CBCT data, good results were achieved in 50.1 % of patients in the first group and in 91.7 % of the second group. Satisfactory and conditionally satisfactory results in the second group were 8.3 % and 0 %, respectively, versus 33.3 % and 16.6 % in the first group. The presented clinical case confirms the effectiveness of the modified technique, which ensured successful osseointegration of the implants. Penetrating osteoperforation, which improves the contact between the autograft and the recipient bed, is a key factor in achieving predictable and stable results of bone reconstruction.
