Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine new insights into the steady two‐dimensional motion of a viscoelastic (Walters' B), incompressible fluid over a vertically stretched sheet surface under the impact of a transverse magnetic field. The influence of activation energy, melting heat transfer, the Soret effect, radiation, and an internal heat source/sink also helps guide fluid motion. By applying a proper similarity transformation, the nonlinear partial differential equations were transformed into a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. Using the MATLAB bvp4c solver tool, the governing equations were computed. The findings were presented in both tabular and graphical forms, examining the influence of different flow variables in the flow domain, such as the melting parameter (), activation energy parameter (), and internal heat source/sink parameter (). Furthermore, the present study also computes the rate of entropy generation under the influence of the above‐mentioned fluid‐flow parameters. The results obtained highlighted a decline in both thermal and solutal effects in the fluid‐flow domain with elevated values of the melting parameter. In addition, the rate of entropy generation decreases as the Reynolds number increases.
