Environmental Media in Babylon Governorate (An Analytical Study)
Abstract
Society is living in the information age, characterised by rapid technological development that has enabled people to obtain news and information through a wide range of communication channels. The public has increasingly come to rely on new media technologies and platforms through the Internet, particularly social media. Consequently, audiences often no longer depend primarily on traditional media such as television, radio, cinema, newspapers, and magazines. Nevertheless, television remains one of the most widely accepted and popular media platforms because it provides continuous entertainment through a variety of sports, artistic, and drama channels. In the twenty-first century, the term “media” encompasses a broad range of forms, from mass media and news media to traditional media and the many emerging forms of digital media. The technological revolution has introduced numerous formats that combine information and entertainment. Therefore, different types of media need to be considered according to the ways in which audiences access and consume their content. Written and digital media can be accessed easily and around the clock, while information delivered through digital broadcasting, television, or radio can be received immediately. Media platforms also differ in the degree of influence they exert on different social groups; therefore, each audience should be approached through the media channels that are most influential and appropriate to it. This research is divided into three chapters. The first chapter addresses the methodological framework, the second focuses on the theoretical framework, and the third presents the practical and analytical aspects of the study. The research concludes with an interpretation of the findings, recommendations, and appendices.
