Implementasi Edukasi Etika Bermedia Sosial untuk Mencegah Cyberbullying dan Membangun Karakter Digital Peserta Didik di SMP Negeri 24 Samarinda

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has increased social media usage among students. Social media provides various benefits as a means of communication and information sharing, however, its use without an understanding of digital ethics may lead to problems such as misinformation, negative comments, and cyberbullying. This study aims to determine the improvement of students’ understanding of social media ethics as an effort to prevent cyberbullying and develop digital character at SMP Negeri 24 Samarinda. This study employed a quantitative approach with a one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects were collected through pre-test and post-test instrument after the implementation of educational activities involving material delivery and interactive discussion. The results showed an improvement in student’ understanding after the educatonal program. Social media ethics education can serve as an effort to enhance digital literacy and develop students’ responsible character in using social media.
