The Value of Adjuvant Radiotherapy in the Treatment of Melanoma: A Multi-Center Analysis
Abstract
Simple Summary This study was undertaken to evaluate the current role of adjuvant radiotherapy after surgery for macrometastatic melanoma and to identify clinical situations in which it may still provide benefit. We found that adjuvant radiotherapy is now used infrequently but can be safely combined with modern systemic therapies without increasing radiotherapy-related toxicity. The findings suggest that routine use of adjuvant radiotherapy should be reserved for selected patients, particularly when systemic treatment options are limited, such as after progression during therapy or when there is no pathological response to neoadjuvant checkpoint inhibitor treatment, especially in patients with BRAF wild-type tumors.
