Hydrothermally Grown MoS 2 Nanoflakes as Binder‐Free Electrodes for Supercapacitor Applications
Abstract
The development of cutting‐edge energy storage systems has received significant interest on account of increasing demand for high‐performance, durable, and efficient devices. In the present work, molybdenum disulfide (MoS 2 ) nanoflakes electrode material was prepared in an aqueous high‐temperature environment. The electrochemical properties of MoS 2 nanoflakes in 1 M H 2 SO 4 electrolytes exhibited mixed electrical double‐layer capacitors (EDLCs) and pseudocapacitive behavior, delivering maximum specific capacitances of 311.6 and 185.8 F g −1 at 1 A g −1 and 5 mV s −1 , respectively. The electrode also demonstrated excellent cycling stability, retaining 81.25% of its initial capacitance after 5000 charge/discharge cycles. Furthermore, the electrode delivers an energy density of 21.2 Wh kg −1 at a power density of 350 W kg −1 . Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) revealed a low charge transfer resistance (129.7 Ω), highlighting efficient charge transport. Thus, MoS 2 nanoflakes can be used as an active electrode material for developing a high‐performance energy storage supercapacitor device.
