Wayame Re: Source (Economic Revitalization through Integrated Resource Management and Circular Economy)
Abstract
Limited access to water, low agricultural productivity, limited livelihood diversification, and the underutilization of organic waste remain major challenges to sustainable agricultural development in Dusun Kranjang, Wayame Village, Ambon City. These conditions highlight the need for a community empowerment model that integrates environmental, social, and economic dimensions sustainably. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Wayame Re:Source, an initiative introduced by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga IT Wayame to address the socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by communities in its Ring 1 operational area, as a circular economy-based community empowerment model for developing an integrated farming system. This study employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Wayame Re:Source successfully integrates water access provision, integrated agriculture and aquaculture development, organic waste management, market access enhancement, environmental restoration, and community capacity building into a single circular economy system. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a community empowerment model based on seven transformation stages that connect resource management, economic value creation, environmental regeneration, and knowledge circulation within a sustainable ecosystem. This model offers an alternative approach to community empowerment that can be replicated in regions facing similar socio-economic and environmental challenges.
