Diálogo de saberes y territorio: experiencias pedagógicas con jóvenes indígenas nahuas en la Sierra Norte de Puebla
Abstract
This work is based on a pedagogical proposal that emphasizes two fundamental concepts: territory and bioculturality. These concepts were utilized by young Nahua indigenous people to develop research projects concerning the importance of managing natural resources and culture within their communities. In this process, young indigenous students become the main actors of the research. The methodology employed in community investigations is grounded in the dialogue of knowledge, popular education, and participatory action research. This methodological framework allows for the exploration of various topics related to local knowledge about biocultural resources. The Nahua students put into practice their skills as community researchers, adapting the principles of ethnographic research to their realities. Their objective was to gather information through semi-structured interviews, community narratives, walks, and peer-to-peer discussions. As a result, the importance of various biocultural aspects present in their territory, which are part of their cultural identity, was revitalized. Additionally, information was obtained about the language, ceremonies, handicrafts, and agricultural products produced in the Nahua communities of the municipality of Pahuatlan, Puebla.
