Abstract
This article examines the distinctive socio-political and economic environment of the Khiva Khanate during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as well as the factors contributing to the formation of the Khorezm Jadid movement. The author analyzes the roles played by local conditions and external cultural influences in the emergence of the region's enlightenment movement. Additionally, the article provides a systematic review of the extent to which the activities and legacy of the Khorezm Jadids have been studied by both Uzbek and foreign scholars. By comparing Soviet-era ideological perspectives with contemporary approaches and pedagogical views from the independence era, the study highlights aspects of the topic that have not yet been fully explored.
