Sustainable Tourism through Mini Projects Module with Student Involvement: A Case Study of UM Laboratory High School
Abstract
In the 21st century, sustainable tourism plays a vital role in regional development and meeting basic human needs. In Malang City, especially in Kayutangan Heritage Village, this concept has not run optimally. This study examines the use of the Mini Projects Module (MPM), which contains 101 topics on social problems in the Greater Malang area, including Kayutangan Heritage Village, for Class X students to solve through the integration of Geography, Economics, Sociology, and History. The emergence of this teaching material prompted this study, which aims to analyze its use in developing students' understanding of sustainable tourism. The sample comprised Class X6 students at UM Laboratory High School who implemented MPM at Kayutangan Heritage Village. The results are presented in a qualitative descriptive format, showing that through MPM implementation, X6 students can achieve sustainable tourism, as evidenced by their ability to identify environmental, social, and economic problems and solutions in the Kayutangan Heritage Village tourist area.
