ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT: ASSESSMENT OF SPECIAL STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS ON THE VEREDA DA CRUZ RIVER BRIDGES – FEDERAL DISTRICT
Abstract
This article analyzes the management and inspection of Special Works of Art (OAE), focusing on two bridges over the Vereda da Cruz River, in the Federal District, Brazil. An identification and visual inspection was conducted based on ABNT NBR 9452:2019, ABNT NBR 16230:2013, and DNIT standards and manuals, with records of structural characteristics and observed pathological manifestations. The results highlight the importance of visual inspection as an initial diagnostic step and as support for maintenance management, particularly under budget constraints. The integration of periodic inspections, systematic records, condition classification, and computerized management systems enables intervention prioritization, risk reduction, and extension of structural service life. The study therefore shows that accessible inspection practices, combined with planning and proactive maintenance, can improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of road infrastructure.
