Abstract

Let $C_q$ denote the group of the $q$th roots of unity. A question arising from the work of Becker, Klein, Slote, Volberg and Zhang is whether the dimension-free Bohnenblust--Hille constants for functions on $C_q^N$ grow subexponentially with the degree. We answer this question affirmatively. In fact, we prove a stronger estimate for functions whose Fourier characters involve at most $d$ coordinates. If $\BHint{d}{q}$ is the optimal constant for this larger class, then, for every fixed $q\geq2$, \[ \BHint{d}{q}\leq \exp\left(c_q\sqrt{d\log d} +O_q\left(\sqrt{\frac d{\log d}}\log\log d\right)\right), \] where $c_2=2$ and $c_q=\sqrt{2q\log(q-1)/(q-2)}$ for $q\geq3$. As an application, we obtain two-sided estimates for the Bohr radius of the Fourier layer formed by characters involving exactly $d$ coordinates, and we determine its asymptotic behaviour in natural joint regimes of $d$ and $N$.

Polynomial Bohnenblust--Hille bounds for product of cyclic groups

Fix an integer $K\ge2$, and let $C_K^n =\{(e^{\frac{2\pi ij}{K}})_{j=0}^{K-1}\}^n$ be the product of cyclic groups of order $K$. For a Fourier character $\chi_\alpha$, let $s(\alpha)$ be the number of active coordinates. We give a self-contained proposed proof that the dimension-free Bohnenblust--Hille constants governed by interaction order grow polynomially: if $p_d=2d/(d+1)$ and \[ \gamma_2=\frac12, \qquad \gamma_K=\frac{K\log(K-1)}{4(K-2)}\quad(K\ge3), \] then the $\ell^{p_d}$ norm of Fourier coefficients $\{\hat f(\alpha)\}$ is bounded by $L^\infty$ norm of $f$ multiplied by $C(K) d^{4\gamma_K+5}$. The constant $C(K)$ is actually at most of the order $K^{5/2}$.

Polynomial growth of complex polynomial Bohnenblust--Hille constants

For an $m$-homogeneous polynomial on $\mathbb C^n$, let $D_{m,n}$ denote the optimal constant in the complex polynomial Bohnenblust--Hille inequality, and set $D_m:=\sup_{n\ge1}D_{m,n}$. We prove that the dimension-free constants $(D_m)$ have at most polynomial growth: there are absolute constants $B_0,K<\infty$ such that \[ D_m\le K m^{B_0} \qquad(m\ge1). \] This replaces the previously best general estimate \[ D_m\le \exp\!\bigl(O(\sqrt{m\log m})\bigr) \] by a fixed power of the degree---a qualitative change in the known growth scale. The proof has two stages. A phase-preserving fixed-ratio decomposition retains the exact ancestry of every coefficient and first yields an explicit quasipolynomial estimate. A weighted graded bootstrap then prevents the one-step loss from accumulating: balanced degree splits produce a strict binary-entropy contraction, while dominant powers are isolated by contractive spectral projections and compressed isometrically to lower degree. This proves polynomial growth without optimizing the exponent. A sharper analysis of the same architecture yields $D_m=o(m^\mu)$ for every $\mu>\beta_\star$, where $\beta_\star<2.47$ is the sharp threshold of the present two-regime bootstrap. On the lower side, we prove the sharp dimensional criterion \[ D_{m,n_m}\longrightarrow1 \quad\Longleftrightarrow\quad n_m=o(m), \] together with the certified estimate \[ \liminf_{m\to\infty}D_m>1.27. \] As an application, the polynomial bound yields an explicit logarithmic remainder in the multidimensional Bohr-radius asymptotic.

Nondegeneracy and regularity of polynomial pushforwards

Let $\mu$ be a log-concave probability measure on $\mathbb R^n$ and let $f\colon\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^k$ be a polynomial mapping of degree at most $d$. We show that \[ \mu(f\in A) \le C\bigl(\lambda_k(A)\bigr)^{\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}} \] for every Borel set $A\subset\mathbb R^k$ whenever the image measure $\mu\circ f^{-1}$ is absolutely continuous. The constant $C$ is independent of the dimension $n$, and the exponent $\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}$ is sharp. This extends the scalar Carbery--Wright inequality and answers, in the log-concave setting, a question raised by Avni, Glazer, and Larsen. In addition, we show that the density of $\mu\circ f^{-1}$, whenever it exists, belongs to the Nikolskii--Besov space $B^{\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}}_{1,\infty}(\mathbb R^k)$, with a dimension-free bound for the corresponding norm. A central difficulty in passing from scalar polynomials to vector-valued polynomial mappings is the lack of a suitable nondegeneracy parameter quantifying absolute continuity of $\mu\circ f^{-1}$, as the variance does in the scalar case. Natural candidates such as the covariance matrix or the Jacobian matrix either fail to characterize this property or do not lead to dimension-free estimates. We identify such a parameter and define it to be the covariance matrix of the vector formed by the monomials of degree up to $d^{k-1}$ in the normalized components of $f$. The dimension-free nature of our results allows us to extend Kusuoka's absolute continuity criterion for Gaussian polynomial random vectors to the log-concave setting. Moreover, in this setting, we obtain estimates relating convergence in distribution to convergence in total variation for polynomial random vectors.

Log-concavity of elementary coefficients for low-rank abelian Hessenberg graphs, with a counterexample in general

Let $X_{G_h}(\mathbf{x};q)=\sum_{\mu\vdash n}c_\mu(q)e_\mu(\mathbf{x})$ be the chromatic quasisymmetric function of the natural unit interval graph attached to a Hessenberg function $h$. We establish an infinite class, valid in all orders, for which every nonzero polynomial $c_\mu(q)$ has a nonnegative, log-concave coefficient sequence with interval support. Namely, this holds whenever $h$ is abelian and its complement-Ferrers partition $\lambda$ satisfies $\min\{\lambda_1,\ell(\lambda)\}\leq 3$; equivalently, the diagram has at most three rows or at most three columns. Cubic interpolation reduces the rank-three case to a uniform theorem for a difference of two products of four $q$-integers, proved by positive decomposition, interval methods, and finite-window smoothing. The argument also yields explicit formulas for every supported elementary coefficient in complement-Ferrers rank at most three. We also include a connected 13-vertex natural unit interval graph for which one elementary coefficient is positive, palindromic, and unimodal but not log-concave, thereby recording the failure of the unrestricted conjecture. Thus low complement-Ferrers rank gives a substantial positive regime even though coefficientwise $e$-log-concavity fails in general.

Sharp refined-direction Kakeya estimates in finite Heisenberg groups

Let $n\geq 2$ and let $q$ be an odd prime power. The first aim of this paper is to prove that, for every $E\subset \mathbb{H}_n(\mathbb{F}_q)$ and every $\lambda>0$, the following sharp rich-direction estimate holds \[ \left| \left\{ \vartheta\in D_n: M^{\mathrm{rd}}_{\mathbb{H}_n}\mathbf{1}_E(\vartheta)\geq\lambda \right\} \right| \lesssim_n q^{2n-1}|E|\lambda^{-2n}. \] The second aim is to determine, for every $1\leq u,v\leq\infty$, the sharp exponent of $q$ in the corresponding $\ell^u\to\ell^v$ estimate. More precisely, we prove that \[ A_n^{\mathrm{rd}}(u,v) = \max\left\{ \frac{2n-1}{v},\ 1-\frac1u,\ \frac{2n}{v}-\frac1u,\ 1+\frac{2n}{v}-\frac{2n+1}{u} \right\}. \] The proof combines the polynomial method with multiplicities and a probabilistic covering argument based on the action of the affine symplectic group.

Simultaneous nonvanishing of quadratic twists via Rankin-Cohen brackets

Let $D$ be an odd fundamental discriminant, with $D=1$ permitted, and let $r\geq 1$ be fixed. We prove that, for every sufficiently large integer $\ell$ satisfying $(-1)^\ell D>0$, the first $r$ traced diagonal Rankin--Cohen brackets \[ \mathrm{Tr}_1^{|D|}[G_{\ell-2e,D},G_{\ell-2e,D}]_{2e}, \qquad 1\leq e\leq r, \] are linearly independent in $S_{2\ell}(SL_2(\mathbb Z))$. Here $G_{k,D}$ is the Eisenstein series of weight $k$, level $|D|$, and nebentypus $\chi_D$. The Petersson formula of Kayath, Lane, Neifeld, Ni, and Xue then implies that at least $r$ normalized Hecke eigenforms $f\in S_{2\ell}(SL_2(\mathbb Z))$ satisfy $L(f\otimes\chi_D,\ell)\neq 0$. For $D=1$, this gives, for every fixed $r$ and every sufficiently large $K\equiv 0\pmod 4$, at least $r$ level-one eigenforms of weight $K$ with nonzero central value.
