Students’ Perceptions of Online Learning and Their Impact on Academic Engagement
Abstract
This paper investigated student perceptions of online learning at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Puncak Perdana and evaluated its subsequent impact on their academic engagement. The study systematically examined four core dimensions of digital pedagogy: learning flexibility, technological accessibility, educator support, and digital resources. Utilizing a quantitative research design, data were gathered from the target student population via a structured survey instrument. The empirical results indicate that these four foundational elements significantly correlate with students' perceptions and attitudes toward online learning. Furthermore, the findings reveal that positive student perceptions and attitudes exert a robust, positive influence on overall learning engagement. Ultimately, this research demonstrates that a well-structured digital learning ecosystem, coupled with targeted institutional support, serves as a primary catalyst for enhancing student motivation and participation within higher education frameworks.
