Interactive Multimedia for Elementary Civic Education: Integrating the Values of Pancasila Student Profile
Abstract
Civic education in elementary school requires meaningful and interactive learning experiences to assist students in understanding and applying civic values in daily life. However, instruction is still often dominated by conventional methods and limited use of media, which reduces student engagement and hinders the internalization of values. Therefore, this study aimed to develop interactive multimedia for Pancasila Education instruction in fifth-grade elementary school by integrating the Pancasila Student Profile (PSP) values into the curriculum, learning activities, and assessment. To achieve this objective, a Research and Development method was applied following the ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). The subjects comprised subject-matter, language, and media experts, as well as teachers and elementary school students. Data were gathered through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and learning outcome tests and were subsequently analyzed using descriptive statistics and N-gain. The results showed that the developed multimedia demonstrated very high validity (average score: 88%) and practicality (average score: 91.7%). The effectiveness of multimedia was shown by an increase in the average student score from 55.68 on the pretest to 90.88 on the posttest, with an N-gain value of 0.82 (high category). These findings confirmed that the resulting interactive learning medium was appropriate for supporting Pancasila Education. In addition to improving learning outcomes, multimedia provided a learning environment that integrated the values of PSP through contextual, reflective, and participatory activities in elementary school civic education.
