Abstract

The remarkable progress achieved in IoT technologies, along with the advent of bio-compatible solutions for flexible and stretchable electronic devices, has revolutionized the approach to delivering care to patients. Wearable IoT gadgets that are designed as smart healthcare systems represent a revolution in remote patient monitoring (RPM), because medical professionals can now monitor physiological parameters in a continuous and real-time manner without having access to traditional clinical settings. The present chapter provides a review of the multi-dimensional architecture of wearable IoT for smart healthcare based on e-textile sensors with edge computing, wireless communication standards, and clinical decision support. It describes transducer materials for textiles, suggests a four-level architecture reference model, compares wireless protocols in terms of energy consumption and latency, looks at Tiny ML implementation in microcontroller-grade processors, touches upon regulatory and cyber security issues, and concludes with three real-world examples.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
