Abstract

Technology based on the creation of a digital twin has been developed as an innovative solution to cope with increasing complexities of modern plasma engineering systems. Traditional approaches to modeling plasma reactors are focused on performing static simulations, empirical optimization, and inadequate experiments to obtain insights into their behavior. However, due to nonlinear dynamics of plasma reactors, these methods do not provide comprehensive understanding of their complex behavior. The use of edge computing, cloud computing, robotics, and autonomous control systems has enabled the application of digital twins in the areas of semiconductor processing, plasma medicine, advanced material synthesis, environmental remediation, aerospace propulsion systems, fusion energy, and plasma-assisted manufacturing. The current chapter offers an in-depth look at the principles, architectures, methods, applications, optimization techniques, limitations, and future possibilities associated with digital twins of plasma reactors.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
