Formation of a patriotic consciousness among modern youth aimed at protecting the Motherland and its interests
Abstract
In the context of modern challenges, the formation of patriotism among young people has become particularly relevant, and patriotism is viewed not only as a moral value, but also as a crucial factor in the security and strength of the state. The article emphasizes the need for a targeted approach to fostering a sense of responsibility for one’s country and a willingness to defend its interests among the younger generation. Civil identity is formed at school: patriotic education forms the basis of a value-based attitude towards the Motherland, especially at the age of 6-10, when children are most receptive to moral guidelines, and at the age of 11-17, when patriotic feelings are just developing. At the same time, patriotism is born from knowledge about the country’s history, geography, and cultural heritage – as Vladimir Putin noted at the Congress of the Russian Geographical Society, it is important for young people to understand their connection to their Motherland and its achievements. Different methods are used for this purpose: visual methods, such as excursions, exhibitions, and documentaries; verbal methods, such as reading fiction and discussing the Motherland; and practical methods, such as involving children in educational games, labor actions, and project activities. Family and society also play an important role: the continuity of education is based on family values and traditions, and the “Immortal Regiment” movement is a shining example of how families pass on the memory of their ancestors’ heroic deeds. In an information society where new challenges are emerging, it is necessary to constantly improve methods of patriotic education, use modern technologies, and involve young people in projects related to preserving historical memory. In conclusion, the formation of a patriotic consciousness among young people is an ongoing process that requires a systematic approach and collaboration between the government, schools, families, and society, as only through joint efforts can we raise a generation capable of defending their homeland and contributing to its prosperity.
