Abstract

Statement of the problem. Amid the growing gap between professional design practices and the needs of urban environment users, the study focuses on developing methodological participation as a tool for aligning the interests of project process participants. The objective is to theoretically substantiate and systematise the principles of holistic methodological participation, develop a model of the “cycle of integrity of methodological participation”, and identify prospects for its integration into architectural and construction practice. Results. It has been established that current participatory design practices are fragmented and fail to ensure continuous involvement of stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of a project. A distinction has been revealed between participatory design — as a set of engagement tools — and methodological participation - as a systemic principle of organising the architectural and construction process. A model of the “cycle of integrity of methodological participation” has been developed, based on the interaction of procedural, institutional, and cognitive frameworks. Conclusions. The proposed model of holistic methodological participation ensures the alignment of professional and local knowledge, enhances the validity of design decisions, and contributes to the formation of a sustainable and socially oriented urban environment.
