The Effect of the Canva-Assisted Pictorial Riddle Model on Elementary Students' Critical Thinking Skills in Science Learning
Abstract
This study is motivated by the importance of critical thinking skills for 21st-century elementary school students; however, these skills remain underdeveloped in Natural and Social Sciences lessons due to the prevalence of teacher-centered instruction. The solution implemented was the use of the Pictorial Riddle model supported by the Canva application. This study aimed to examine the implementation of the model and determine the differences and effects regarding students' critical thinking skills. A quantitative quasi-experimental method with a non-equivalent control group design was employed. Data were collected through observation and tests, then analyzed using descriptive statistics, prerequisite tests, and independent samples t-tests. The results indicate that the model was successfully implemented and had a significant positive impact on improving students' critical thinking skills. The findings conclude that the Pictorial Riddle model supported by the Canva application significantly influences elementary school students' critical thinking skills in science learning.
