· IISE Annual Conference & Expo 2025 · 0 citations

Abstract

The EngiBot project seeks to revolutionize academic planning by addressing a critical gap in university support systems: the lack of immediate, accurate answers to major-specific academic questions. Current resources, such as live chat systems and academic advisors, are often constrained by limited availability and scope. EngiBot is a scalable, 24/7 chatbot solution  designed to provide instant, personalized assistance for curriculum planning, student organizations, and admissions inquiries at any university.Powered by advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques and the Llama 3.1 Large Language Model (LLM), EngiBot combines contextual understanding and fine-tuned parameters to deliver reliable guidance. Its modular framework enables other universities to easily adapt the solution for their specific programs, expanding its impact beyond Rutgers University.EngiBot offers significant academic, mental health, and economic benefits. Students gain 24/7 access to support, reducing stress and improving mental well-being. Universities benefit from potential cost savings by reducing reliance on live chat systems while enhancing the student experience.Comprehensive testing ensures EngiBot’s performance, accuracy, and usability. It is designed to complement, not replace, academic advisors, ensuring critical issues still receive human attention. EngiBot sets a precedent for scalable, ethical AI applications in education, offering a transformative tool for universities to support their students effectively.
