Abstract

The quality of Madrasah Aliyah graduates is largely determined by the quality of the learning process and teacher competence. Limited structured training and sustainable professional development remain challenges in many private madrasahs, including MA Al Wathoniyah 5 Jakarta. This study aims to analyze the planning, implementation, and impact of teacher training and development management strategies on graduate quality. A qualitative approach with a case study design was employed. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with the head of the madrasah, vice head for curriculum affairs, and teachers, complemented by observations of training activities and document analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model, consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that training planning involved competency needs analysis, program design, and the determination of objectives, budgets, and schedules. Implementation included In-House Training (IHT), workshops, and Subject Teacher Consultation Forums (MGMP), focusing on strengthening pedagogical and professional competencies and the use of instructional technology. Regular mentoring and performance evaluation were also conducted. The strategy positively contributed to teacher competence and performance, learning quality, and students’ academic and non-academic achievements. However, implementation was constrained by limited budgets and time. The study recommends strengthening managerial commitment to sustainable teacher professional development.
