Nationalization of the objectives of the European education area in the Republic of Moldova
Abstract
The nationalization of the objectives of the European Education Area (EEA) represents a key process for the integration of the Republic of Moldova into the value-based, normative, and strategic framework of the European Union. In the context of current political and social transformations, education plays a crucial role in strengthening European identity and promoting a democratic civic culture. This study examines, first, the specific social and political values present in the Republic of Moldova, highlighting both their compatibilities and tensions in relation to the principles of the EEA. Second, it explores the strategies through which European objectives can be adapted, harmonized, and implemented within the national educational system so that they become effective and relevant for Moldovan society. Based on the experimental approach developed in the doctoral research, the study evaluates concrete ways of integrating EEA strategic directions into civic education programs, with an emphasis on developing democratic, participatory, and intercultural competencies. The findings demonstrate that alignment with the EEA contributes to curriculum modernization, strengthens identity cohesion, and supports the broader process of Europeanisation, generating long-term benefits for educational quality and social development.
