Abstract

: This paper explores how artificial intelligence (AI), in its turn, can affect the evolution of journalism through consistent analysis of its beneficial effects, issues surrounding it, and normativity. As it is shown in this analysis, AI, especially automated and generative journalism, has taken structural roles in modern news production. Empirical and theoretical data indicate that AI will likely lead to a higher level of efficiency, an increase in news coverage, and a shift in journalistic labour, moving towards more analytical and interpretative work, without necessarily reducing the perceived quality of the news. Meanwhile, the results also demonstrate that the use of AI presents serious ethical and professional dilemmas. The lack of editorial responsibility and equity between algorithms and people is exacerbated by the phenomenon of algorithmic transparency and discrimination, and the development of generative AI is adding additional weight to the issues of journalistic power, professional identity, and job stability. Resting on the results, the paper concludes that the future of journalism lies in the responsible management of AI technologies. To be sustainable in integration, it is necessary to focus on human-machine cooperation, editorial control of people, reinforce ethical standards, and transparency of AI applications.
