STUDI PENERAPAN K3 DI LINGKUNGAN PRODUCTION PLANT-1 PT MULTI NITROTAMA
Abstract
The chemical industry is associated with high occupational risks due to hazardous chemicals, pressurized equipment, and complex production processes. Therefore, the implementation of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) is essential to prevent workplace accidents and support sustainable industrial operations. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of OHS in the Production Plant-1 environment of PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia and identify areas requiring improvement. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed using primary and secondary data collected through direct observation, interviews, documentation studies, and analysis of the company’s I’m Safe program records. Data were processed through reduction, classification, tabulation, and presentation to assess OHS practices comprehensively. The findings show that workers consistently comply with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and that emergency preparedness systems, including fire extinguishers, evacuation routes, Emergency Response Teams (ERT), and safety training programs, have been implemented effectively. However, deficiencies were identified in pipeline identification and safety signage systems. Most production pipelines lacked flow direction markers, and several work areas were not adequately equipped with safety signs. In addition, inconsistencies were observed in Pre-Start Briefing implementation and procedural compliance despite high participation in the I’m Safe program. As an improvement measure, flow direction markers were installed on production pipelines. Overall, PT Multi Nitrotama Kimia has demonstrated a strong commitment to OHSMS implementation, although improvements in hazard communication, risk control, and procedural consistency remain necessary.
