The impact of agribusiness investment activities on the sustainable development of rural areas and the modernization of social infrastructure
Abstract
The article examines the relationship between the investment activity of agro-industrial complex enterprises, sustainable rural development and the condition of social infrastructure. The empirical base consists of official Rosstat statistics for 2015-2024; comparative, structural-dynamic and correlation methods are used. The study shows that growing capital investment in the core agro-industrial sectors is accompanied by technological changes in the structure of fixed assets, higher wages and productivity, while accumulated depreciation remains high and agricultural employment continues to decline. Housing conditions and amenities in rural areas are improving, but the urban-rural infrastructure gap remains substantial and the rural population continues to decrease. The productive return on agribusiness investment turns into a territorial effect only when economic results are transmitted through household income, the local tax base, demand and investment in social infrastructure.
