Abstract

This paper examines the theoretical foundations for the formation of the regional information space in the context of the digital transformation of the economy and the growing role of digital technologies in ensuring the sustainable socio-economic development of territories. It is substantiated that existing scientific approaches predominantly interpret the information space as a set of information resources, digital infrastructure, or communication processes, without considering its comprehensive role within the regional governance system. The study analyzes Russian and international concepts of the regional information space, identifying their strengths as well as their methodological limitations. An original polystructural model of the regional information space is proposed, based on the integration of institutional, infrastructural, technological, and communication subsystems into a unified framework for managing the digital development of a territory. The scientific novelty of the research lies in advancing the theoretical foundations of regional economics through the development of a polystructural model of the regional information space, viewed as a key factor in digital transformation and the enhancement of territorial competitiveness. The practical significance of the study is determined by the possibility of applying the proposed model in the development of digital transformation strategies for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, improving regional governance mechanisms, and facilitating the formation of a unified national digital space.
