The Impact of Digital Financial Services on Financial Inclusion and Economic Growth in India
Abstract
Digital financial services have emerged as a significant driver of financial inclusion and economic development in India. This study examines the impact of digital payment systems, mobile banking, internet banking, digital wallets, and other technology-enabled financial services on access to formal financial services. It focuses on how digitalisation reduces transaction costs, improves accessibility, promotes savings and credit utilisation, and enables underserved populations to participate in the formal financial system. The study also evaluates the relationship between digital financial inclusion and economic growth through increased financial activity, entrepreneurship, employment opportunities, and efficient resource allocation. Particular attention is given to the role of digital infrastructure, financial literacy, cybersecurity, affordability, and consumer trust in determining adoption. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach based on secondary data and relevant literature. The findings are expected to demonstrate that inclusive digital finance can strengthen financial participation, reduce economic disparities, and contribute significantly to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in India
