Abstract

In the era of science and technology, schools are tasked with creating flexible curricula to help students develop 21st-century abilities, given the evolution of talents considered essential in the modern period. The Kennedy Centre states that Integration of Art is an interactive pedagogical method in which learners build their understanding through various art forms and demonstrate their knowledge creatively. The integration of the arts may help students develop these 21st-century skills; it encourages and motivates students to be active learners, whereas traditional academic disciplines are typically studied through dictated teaching and learning methods. Arts integration is a method for bridging the gap between acquiring knowledge and ideas from the visual and performing arts and other subject areas using various classroom interaction strategies. (as cited in Drakos, L., Reeder, L., Ricciardi,L., Zacharia, J., & Harnett, S., 2021) Art integration produces a degree of deep connection and understanding that strengthens the creative processes involved in creating art through creative inquiry.

Exploring the Integration of the Domains of Learning into the TPACK Framework through Art-Based Pedagogy in School Level Education in Nepal

Instructional and pedagogical methods play a significant role in enhancing creativity, critical thinking, innovation and meaningful learning of students for developing the competencies needed for a competitive and globalized world. In the context of Nepal, the most practiced instructional pedagogy is traditional teacher-centered, unidirectional with rote memorization and standardized testing since long which are unable to promote the 21st century core skills that are essential for students to address and adjust in the digitally advanced and complex world. The main aim of this study is to explores the transformative learning by integrating the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learning into the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. This research examines how these methodologies can bridge the gap between knowledgeable understanding and expressive engagement with meaningful skills by explicitly converging Art-Based Pedagogy and the STEAM approach along with these domains. This study primarily uses narrative inquiry to underpin how conventional instructional pedagogy in present context become worthless over transformative and modern instructional pedagogy in this contemporary situation of education system that observed in both private and government schools in Nepal. The key findings of this study indicate that the meaningful and effective integration of arts such as drama, drawing, poem and storytelling promotes the critical thinking, creativity, innovation and transformative and meaningful learnings of the students. Such integration promotes students’ participation, engagement, collaboration and critical reflection that is indeed of holistic development of the students. From this study, it is need of time to reimagine TPACK framework and integration of art-based methods under STEAM approach of learning. Such integration with spiritual intelligence empowers students to step beyond the just transmission of knowledge but leap into the meaningful, sustainable, and transformative learning experiences. This research contributes to the educational discourse by providing a comprehensive strategy for nurturing well-rounded individuals who are scholastically skillful, emotionally intellectual, and communally responsible.

Evaluation of the Teaching Model Innovation and Inheritance Effectiveness of Arts and Crafts Skills Entering Schools under the Concept of Living Heritage

The integration of arts and crafts skills into school curricula faces challenges such as weak connection between teaching content and craft practice, insufficient teacher training, and lack of specialized pedagogical models. Under the concept of living heritage, this study examines 480 students from eight primary and secondary schools and implements a four-stage teaching model covering experience, immersion, innovation, and evaluation. The methods include school-based curriculum design for skill transmission, integration of teacher-apprentice co-creation with contextual learning, digital handcraft simulation and digital work-process archives, and quantitative assessment using inheritance ability questionnaires and work innovation scores. The results show that students in the experimental group achieve a 42.6% improvement in skill mastery, a 38.4% higher work innovation score than the control group, and a 36.7% increase in cultural understanding. Teacher-student interaction frequency and classroom satisfaction also improve significantly. The concept-driven teaching approach enhances student motivation, supports skill innovation, and promotes sustainable transmission of arts and crafts in educational settings, including textile-related craft education.

Bridging the Generation Gap in Education: Transitioning from Traditional Pedagogies to AI-Enhanced Teaching and Learning in the Twenty-First Century

The rapid advancement of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming educational systems worldwide, redefining how teaching and learning are conceptualized, delivered, and assessed. While technological innovations offer unprecedented opportunities for personalized learning, enhanced engagement, data-driven decision-making, and expanded access to knowledge, they also expose a significant generational divide among educators and learners. This divide is characterized by differing levels of technological proficiency, pedagogical beliefs, digital literacy competencies, and attitudes toward educational innovation. As schools, universities, and training institutions increasingly transition from traditional teacher-centred approaches to technology-assisted and AI-enhanced learning environments, understanding and addressing this generation gap has become a critical educational priority. This paper critically examines the nature, causes, and implications of the generation gap in the context of twenty-first-century educational transformation. Drawing upon contemporary literature on educational technology, digital literacy, generational theory, innovation adoption, and AI in education, the paper explores how educators from different generations navigate the challenges and opportunities associated with emerging technologies. Particular attention is given to the contrasting experiences of digital natives and digital immigrants, the evolving role of teachers in AI-supported learning environments, and the impact of technological change on curriculum design, assessment practices, learner engagement, and educational equity. The paper further investigates how institutional readiness, professional development, infrastructure availability, leadership support, and policy frameworks influence the successful integration of AI-driven educational tools. The analysis argues that the generation gap should not be viewed merely as a technological challenge but as a multidimensional educational issue encompassing cultural, pedagogical, ethical, and socio-economic dimensions. Without deliberate interventions, disparities in digital competence and technological confidence may exacerbate existing educational inequalities and hinder meaningful innovation. However, when supported through collaborative learning cultures, targeted professional development, intergenerational mentoring, and inclusive policy initiatives, the generational divide can become a catalyst for educational renewal and transformation. The paper proposes a framework for bridging generational differences through lifelong learning, digital capacity building, and human-centred AI integration that preserves the relational and ethical foundations of education while embracing technological advancement. The study concludes that the future of education depends not on replacing traditional pedagogical wisdom with artificial intelligence, but on fostering productive partnerships between human expertise and technological innovation. Bridging the generation gap is therefore essential for creating resilient, inclusive, and future-ready education systems capable of preparing learners for the complexities of an increasingly digital and AI-driven world.

Innovations in Science Learning in Inclusive Schools through the UDL Framework and Adaptive Media: A Systematic Literature Review

Implementing inclusive education in science classrooms requires instructional transformations that can accommodate diverse learning modalities. This study aims to analyze trends, challenges, and instructional innovations in inclusive science education, focusing on the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework and adaptive media for students with special needs. The methodology employed is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) guided by the PRISMA protocol. A total of 15 peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2026 indexed in Sinta and Scopus were analyzed. The thematic synthesis indicates that the integration of UDL and adaptive digital media—such as interactive e-modules, virtual laboratories, and 3D manipulative models—significantly reduces cognitive load and enhances students' conceptual understanding and science process skills. The analysis reveals that UDL combined with local context-based learning achieves the highest instructional efficacy (40%). However, disparities in teachers' pedagogical competencies and inaccessible physical laboratory infrastructures remain critical challenges. This study recommends continuous collaborative professional development between science teachers and special education professionals to foster an accessible science learning ecosystem

Implementation Independent Curriculum in Increase 21st Century Competencies of Students Elementary school

This research is motivated by the demands of 21st-century education, which requires students to possess various essential skills, such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration (4Cs). However, in reality, the learning process in elementary schools still tends to be teacher-centered, thus not being able to fully develop these competencies optimally. Therefore, the presence of the Independent Curriculum is a strategic effort to encourage more flexible, student-centered, and contextual learning according to student needs. The purpose of this study is to determine how the implementation of the Independent Curriculum improves the 21st-century competencies of elementary school students and to identify supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive type. The research subjects included teachers and students in elementary schools that have implemented the Independent Curriculum. Data collection techniques were carried out through observation of learning activities, in-depth interviews with teachers, and documentation studies of learning materials. Data analysis was carried out interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results show that the implementation of the Independent Curriculum has a significant impact on improving students' 21st-century competencies. In the learning process, teachers have begun to implement various innovative learning models such as Project-Based Learning (PjBL), problem-based learning, and differentiated learning tailored to student characteristics. This encourages students to be more active, independent, and directly involved in the learning process. Students demonstrate improvements in critical thinking skills through problem-solving activities, increased creativity through learning projects, communication skills through presentations of work results, and collaboration skills through group work. In addition, the Independent Curriculum also provides space for teachers to integrate real-life contexts and the surrounding environment into learning, so that learning becomes more meaningful and relevant for students. Implementation. The Pancasila Student Profile also helps strengthen the formation of student character that aligns with 21st-century competencies. However, this study also found several obstacles in the implementation of the Independent Curriculum, including teachers' limited understanding in designing and implementing project-based learning, limited supporting facilities and infrastructure, and the persistence of students who are not accustomed to learning patterns that require activeness and independence. In addition, the administrative burden on teachers and limited training are also inhibiting factors in optimizing the implementation of this curriculum. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum is effective in improving 21st-century competencies in elementary school students, particularly in critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration. To support optimal success, teacher competency improvement is needed through ongoing training, adequate facilities and infrastructure, and support from various parties

Developing 21st-Century Skills in Biology Education through Innovative Instructional Practices in Secondary Schools

This study examines the role of innovative instructional practices in developing 21st-century skills in Biology education among secondary school students. Persistent underachievement in Biology, particularly in Nigeria, has been largely attributed to the continued reliance on traditional teacher-centered pedagogies that emphasize rote memorization rather than meaningful understanding and skill acquisition. Drawing on constructivist learning theory, particularly the works of Ausubel, Novak, and Piaget, the study explores how learner-centered approaches can enhance students’ cognitive engagement and knowledge construction. Adopting a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes evidence from existing literature and instructional practices to analyze the effectiveness of  innovative strategies, including concept mapping, 5E learning cycle, inquiry-based learning, project-based learning, collaborative learning, field-based activities, jigsaw strategy, and the integration of classroom technology. Findings from the literature review indicate that these strategies significantly improve students’ conceptual understanding, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, collaboration, communication skills and core competencies required for the 21st century. The study concludes that the integration of innovative instructional practices fosters active learning and meaningful knowledge construction, thereby enhancing students’ academic achievement and preparedness for real-world challenges. It recommends sustained teacher professional development, curriculum innovation, and improved access to instructional resources to support effective implementation in secondary school Biology classrooms
