Translation Strategies in Applied Linguistics (based on English and Azerbaijani languages)
Abstract
This research investigates the morphosyntactic, semantic, and pragmatic differences that arise in the translation process between English and Azerbaijani languages. It has been determined that the application of strategies such as transposition, modulation, and adaptation is essential when translating between these two languages, which belong to different language families. The study analyzes the role of functionalist approaches, Skopos theory, and equivalence principles in translation. In addition, the influence of pragmatic and cultural factors on the translation process is examined, emphasizing the importance of selecting appropriate equivalents in the translation of idioms and phraseological expressions. As a result, it is concluded that the proper use of translation strategies helps preserve the semantic, stylistic, and communicative features of the text while also enabling effective communication between languages and cultures.
