Abstract

Sentence semantics (here significación) is the information expressed syntactically in the form of a “construction”, consisting of the interdependence of at least two semantic features – primarily simple meanings – or formal markers (such as categories, agreement, prepositions, transpositores, word order, parentheticals…). Within these abstract structures, the meanings of open lexical classes with representative capacity are integrated, giving rise to increasingly concrete constructions where the verb lexically selects units from nominal categories (nouns, adjectives, adverbs) for each syntactic position or function.
