Abstract

Wireless Power Transfer (WPT) is one of the best substitutes for plug-in charger devices for EVs owing to enhanced safety and convenience. The present research paper discusses the development and hardware implementation of a wireless inductive charging device designed for an electric two wheeler. The proposed wireless charging device employs an AC voltage input source having a frequency of 50 Hz and voltage value of 230 V which is step down to 13.79 VAC by a transformer and then converted to 17.49 V DC. Further, a DC regulating circuit charges an inverter providing 70VAC within the range of 60-80kHz for energizing the transmitter coil. The receiver coil provides an output that is rectified and filtered to produce a constant 12VDC supply that can charge batteries. The experimental data confirms theoretical calculations and validates proper operation of the wireless power transfer technology.
