Design and performance analysis of line fed modified rectangular shaped dual band microstrip patch antenna for 5G/Wi-Fi applications
Abstract
In recent years, the demand for dual band microstrip antennas have increased significantly due to advancements in 5G, Wi-Fi, and modern wireless communication technologies. This paper presents a simple, compact, and modified rectangular-shape dual band microstrip antenna for 5G and Wi-Fi applications. The dual band microstrip antenna is designed on FR-4 substrate of thickness 1.6 mm with relative permittivity of 4.4 excited by a 50 Ω microstrip line feed. The planar size of presented antenna is 28 × 34 mm2. The simulated and measured analysis of return loss, gain and radiation pattern has been presented. The simulated result of presented antenna shows that a modified rectangular-shape dual band antenna achieves an operating bandwidth range of 3.28–3.62 and 5.19–5.87 GHz with–23.60 and–41.34 dB return losses respectively. The gain of presented antenna is 4.13 and 4.96 dBi at resonating frequencies of 3.46 and 5.60 GHz. The presented antenna can be efficient and convenient for 5G and Wi-Fi applications.
