Iterative Load Scheduling and Flexibility Coordination in Smart Grids
Abstract
Load scheduling and flexibility play a crucial role in enabling modern power systems to integrate renewable energy sources, enhance operational stability, and respond dynamically to varying grid conditions. This paper presents a novel modular approach for load scheduling and flexibility management, validated through case studies based on the IEEE 33-Bus System. These methodologies are intended for deployment in Energy Management System (EMS) platforms. Cost reduction depends on solar generation and load characteristics, including load type and profile. Furthermore, the flexibility algorithm successfully prioritizes load delivery over Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) charging and BESS charging over energy curtailment, demonstrating its effectiveness and consistency across benchmark smart grid test systems.
