লালনের দর্শন : আধাত্মিকতা, মানবতাবাদ, এবং সামাজিক সমতার এক বিশ্লেষণ (Lalon’s philosophy: An Analysis of Spirituality, Humanism, and Social Equality)
Abstract
Lalon Shah was a distinctive philosopher in Bengali folk literature and social movements; he preached a universal message of humanism, spirituality, and social equality. In his philosophy, there is no place for racism, gender discrimination, caste system, or communal narrow mindedness. He contended that, the fundamental foundation of humanity is equality and brotherhood; besides, the spiritual power within man can reveal the path to true liberation for humanity. Lalon's spiritual philosophy emphasizes self-discovery through the study of the body and soul, which is primarily related to the Vaishnava Sahajiyā and Sufi traditions. Apart from spirituality, he also sought to uphold the dignity of people considered marginalized, oppressed, and untouchable in society by advocating the message of equality. His songs and sayings are not just a path of spiritual pursuit but a fundamental philosophy of human liberation and social justice as well. In this study, I will attempt to analyze the basic characteristics of Lalon's philosophy, spirituality, humanism, and the concept of social equality which is relevant even in the context of human crisis, inequality, and division in modern times.
