Pemaknaan Proses Diskusi dalam Dinamika Komunikasi Kelompok di Lingkungan Bank Syariah Indonesia KCP Jakarta Tanjung Priok
Abstract
This study aims to understand how group discussion processes are interpreted by employees and how these discussions take place in the daily work practices at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Jakarta Tanjung Priok Sub-Branch Office. Internal communication at this branch occurs with high intensity given the transaction volume and the diverse customer base it serves, making group discussion an essential mechanism for maintaining information synchronization, accelerating decision-making, and preserving service consistency. This research applies a qualitative approach through a case study method with an exploratory nature, based on the constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, passive participatory observation, and documentation involving five informants representing different positions within the branch, and were subsequently analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, comprising data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was examined through source, technique, and time triangulation. The findings reveal that the group discussion process at BSI Jakarta Tanjung Priok unfolds across four stages, namely orientation, conflict, emergence, and reinforcement, each of which employees interpret respectively as a space for building shared perception, a space for voicing differing views as a normal part of discussion, a space for jointly searching for solutions, and a space for reinforcing commitment to agreed decisions. Discussion practices are most evident in morning briefings and prayer sessions as well as in cross-divisional coordination. The study concludes that group discussion functions not merely as a channel for information delivery but as a process of collective meaning-making that supports coordination, collaboration, and organizational communication effectiveness.
