Social Isolation of the Individual in the Digital Environment
Abstract
The article presents a theoretical analysis of the problem of social isolation of an individual in a digital environment. Research by modern scientists reveals a stable link between the intensive use of digital technologies and the growth of social isolation. Despite the obvious potential of the digital space for communication opportunities, the opposite effect is observed, accompanied by a number of consequences. This article examines in detail the mechanisms by which the digital environment enhances feelings of loneliness and restricts individuals from live communication. The etiological factors contributing to the withdrawal of a person into social isolation are analyzed: avoiding situations that cause severe anxiety or fear; passive viewing of the tape; the development of online relationships and the individual psychological characteristics of the user. Groups of people predisposed to the formation of social isolation have been identified. Special attention is paid to the specifics of social isolation of a person based on the analysis of modern domestic and foreign studies, as well as the negative consequences of prolonged stay in virtual reality, such as deterioration of emotional state, increased stress levels and decreased life satisfaction. The need to develop effective strategies and approaches aimed at overcoming isolation and creating conditions for full-fledged human communication is emphasized.
