The present study examines the words formed in Romanian through the process compounding. In the analyzed text, this word-formation process is very productive, displaying a considerable number of compound forms calqued on Slavonic compounds, belonging to religious terminology. When encountering difficulties in identifying lexical equivalents, the translator employs multiple solutions to render the corresponding Slavonic words, adapting them to the system of the Romanian language. The compound formations identified in the analyzed text have played a significant role in the development of the vocabulary, presenting great interest for enriching knowledge about the history of the Romanian language.
