Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Technology n The Transformation of Contemporary Culinary Arts
Abstract
This study examines how VR and AR technologies are transforming current cooking methods. To identify, evaluate, and synthesize relevant studies published from 2020 to 2026, this study employed a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) strategy in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 criteria. Information was sourced from reputable global databases such as Scopus, ScienceDirect, SpringerLink, and Google Scholar. The results show that VR and AR technologies have significantly transformed modern cooking by providing interactive, engaging, and multisensory dining experiences. Their use in the culinary industry includes virtual dining experiences, AR-enhanced interactive menus, digital food representations, immersive dining spaces, and advanced restaurant technologies. These changes are driving creativity and competition in the hospitality industry while enhancing client interaction, emotional engagement, service levels, and satisfaction. Furthermore, by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and the metaverse, immersive technologies hold an exciting future for the culinary arts. However, there are several obstacles that must be overcome, including significant implementation costs, weak digital infrastructure, and the need for qualified workers. In short, in the digital age, VR and AR technologies offer great potential to transform the culinary arts into a more creative, eco-friendly, and technology-driven experience.
