TL;DR

KronSAE is proposed, a design that factorizes the latent space into heads and forms post-latent features as pairwise compositions of lower-dimensional pre-latents using mAND, a differentiable AND-like interaction that imposes a compositional co-activation prior while remaining compatible with standard SAE objectives and variants.

Abstract

Sparse Autoencoders (SAEs) decompose language-model activations into sparse, interpretable features, but standard encoders usually treat the latent dictionary as a flat set of independent coordinates, leaving hierarchy and feature interactions to emerge only implicitly. We propose KronSAE, a design that factorizes the latent space into heads and forms post-latent features as pairwise compositions of lower-dimensional pre-latents using mAND, a differentiable AND-like interaction. This imposes a compositional co-activation prior while remaining compatible with standard SAE objectives and variants such as TopK, Matryoshka, and Switch SAEs. KronSAE matches strong baselines on the EV-FLOPs frontier, improves interpretability of the latents, better captures the underlying correlated feature structure, and reduces encoder computational cost as an additional benefit. It is found that SAE activation sets do not recover human category boundaries or within-category typicality more faithfully than dense embeddings or residual-stream states, but instead track model-internal similarity structure.

SharedSAE: One Feature Dictionary Across Language Models

This work shows that a single shared SAE can replace a collection of dedicated per-model SAEs, and combines a shared dictionary with model-specific encoder-decoder pairs to achieve near-dedicated-SAE reconstruction quality.

Finding Usable Weight Mechanisms with Tiled SVD

This work proposes extracting mechanism mounts directly from linear sites by column-tiled SVD: each mount is a triple read as trigger, write, and strength, and evaluates mounts with a pre-registered suite judged on full-write energy lift rather than tile-local lift.

Superposed Latent Autoencoder

The Superposed Latent Autoencoder (SLAE) is introduced, which preserves high-capacity latent representations while sharing storage through learned superposition, and suggests a new principle for representation compression: instead of making every latent smaller, keep representations wide and let them share memory.
