Validation and determination of calibration factors for a regional itinerant gamma spectrometry system for radionuclide traceability in nuclear medicine.
Abstract
In Nuclear Medicine Services (NMS), the use of short-lived radionuclides is essential, and their increasing application has heightened the interest of national metrology laboratories, which are responsible for providing traceability to radioactive standards. The short half-life complicates this traceability. To overcome this limitation, the National Laboratory of Ionizing Radiation Metrology (LNMRI) is developing a mobile system based on a NaI(Tl) detector. This work aims to present the schematic setup of the proposed system, performance tests, and calibration factors for specific radionuclides.
