Validation of Electric Motor Loads of a Laboratory Rolling Mill
Abstract
The relevance of monitoring the force-and-power parameters of strip rolling on hot and cold rolling mills is emphasized. This task arises when expanding the product mix, modernizing equipment, and developing new rolling programs. Several known methods for calculating force-and-power parameters are noted, the calculations according to which produce differing results. The studies are carried out using an educational and research rolling mill equipped with a variable-frequency electric drive of the rolls and a stepper electric drive of the screw-down devices. The task is set to verify the adequacy, that is, to validate the loads calculated according to the known method of A.I. Tselikov and the corresponding results obtained experimentally. For experimental studies, the rolling stand is equipped with an information-measuring system that controls the electric drives and processes data on electric drive coordinates. In analytical calculations, reliable calculation of rolling force under different reductions by passes plays an important role. Analytical dependencies for calculating this parameter, as well as for calculating torque on the motor shaft, are presented. The results of calculations and physical measurements of rolling force and rolling torque are compared. High convergence of the results is demonstrated. Recommendations are given for applying the developed methodology to calculate equivalent loads of electric drives of rolling stands.
