Abstract

This article conveys a theoretical perspective of how artificial intelligence (AI) tools can affect employee motivation, productivity and decision-making in remote work settings. In the digital era, businesses have come to rely not only on digital tools but also on a series of AI systems that can handle data analysis, make suggestions, and automate repetitive tasks and processes while aiding decision-making. These technologies enable remote workers to analyse a vast amount of data in a faster manner, minimize repetitive tasks, save time and compare alternative courses of action. But, over-automation can have negative impacts including loss of employees' autonomy, dependence on technology, psychological stress, and a diminished sense of critical thinking. It explores the balance of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, unique aspects of remote work, trust in AI recommendations, and organisational culture and digital readiness. Based on this analysis, AI does not pose a direct threat to replace humans but rather enhances their managerial and information-handling capacities.
