Peningkatan Kemampuan Menulis Teks Laporan Hasil Observasi Melalui Media TEBING (Tebak Bingo) pada Peserta Didik Kelas X-4 SMAN 6 Surabaya

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of TEBING (Tebak Bingo) media and to analyse the improvement of grade X-4 students’ ability in writing observation report texts at SMAN 6 Surabaya. The study was prompted by students’ difficulty in distinguishing general description from detailed description when composing the text. TEBING is a bingo-based game medium that guides students to mark observed facts, sort them into general and specific categories, and then develop them into a written draft. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, each covering planning, action, observation, and reflection, involving 36 students. Data were collected through writing tests, observation, and documentation, then analysed quantitatively and qualitatively. The results show that the class average rose from 83.89 in cycle I to 90.75 in cycle II, an increase of 8.18%, while classical mastery moved from 83.33% to 100%. Thirty-three students scored higher and none declined. The standard deviation fell from 7.01 to 2.95, with the largest gains occurring among the lowest-scoring students, indicating a more even distribution of achievement. Adding colour coding to the bingo sheet and providing group guidance in cycle II resolved the fact-sorting difficulty observed in cycle I.
