Sep 2026 · Metafizika Journal · 0 citations

Abstract

This article explores the phenomenon of cultural pluralism in the context of its influence on the formation and transformation of national consciousness. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between cultural pluralism and national identity, including the mechanisms of their mutual influence and possible contradictions. The work consistently reveals both positive and negative aspects of cultural pluralism. The positive effects include expanding cultural experience, stimulating intercultural dialogue, developing tolerance and increasing the level of social adaptability of society. At the same time, potential risks associated with increased social differentiation, fragmentation of public space, weakening of a single national identity and the emergence of cultural and value conflicts are also analyzed. Namely, the problem of the cultural gap between local and mobile identities is touched upon, characterized by disagreements between forms of self-identification rooted in a certain place and those that are formed in the conditions of globalization and digitalization processes. The cultural gap here acts as a tension between rootedness and flexibility, creating a kind of chain of contradictions between the space of tradition and the space of flow. This leads to the formation of synthetic identities in the modern world. In conclusion, it is necessary to develop a balanced approach to the management of cultural diversity, which implies the harmonization of the processes of maintaining national unity and supporting the cultural diversity of society.
